Welcome back to Robotics Roundup, a look back on the month’s most important VC deals in the robotics industry. In January we saw a big exit for Bear Robotics, which raised $60M last March, and Symbotic’s acquisition Walmart’s Advanced Systems and Robotics.
But first, the deals:
The Deals
Neura Robotics raised a €120M Series B led by Lingotto Investment Management with participation from BlueCrest Capital Management, Volvo Cars Tech Fund, InterAlpen Partners, Vsquared Ventures, HV Capital, Delta Electronics, C4 Ventures, L-Bank, founder David Reger, and others. The Metzingen, Germany-based company develops humanoids designed to collaborate with humans in manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare.
XOCEAN raised a €115M growth investment led by S2G Ventures with participation from Climate Investment, Morgan Stanley’s 1GT fund, and others. The Dublin-based company builds uncrewed surface vehicles capable of autonomously gathering and delivering offshore geophysical data.
Overland AI raised $32M in Series A funding led by 8VC. The Seattle company is building autonomous off-road vehicles for use in the defense sector, with plans to expand its product offerings, accelerate deployment, and invest in R&D.
Perceptive raised $30M in funding from Pacific Dental Services, Y Combinator, and Ed Zuckerberg — Mark Zuckerberg’s dentist father. The Boston company also announced it had completed the world’s first fully automated dental procedure on a human using its robotic dentistry system.
Robeauté raised $28M in funding led by Plural, Cherry Ventures, and Kindred Ventures, with participation from LocalGlobe, Think.Health, and Brainlab. The Paris company is developing rice grain-sized microbots capable of navigating the brain’s pathways to deliver drugs, implant electrodes, gather cellular data and perform other otherwise invasive neurosurgical procedures.
Sereact raised €25M in Series A funding led by Creandum alongside existing investors Point Nine and Air Street Capital. The Stuttgart, Germany-based company builds hardware-agnostic AI models to support robotic picking devices without the need for complex programming.
Conceivable Life Sciences raised a $18M Series A round led by ARTIS Ventures, with participation from Atlantic Health Venture Studio, Muse Capital, Scrub Capital, and others. The New York-based company is developing a fully automated IVF lab, with robots and AI performing more than 200 intricate steps required to create embryos for IVF.
Mob-Energy raised €15M in funding from Tikehau Capital. The Lyon, France-based company builds systems that charge fleets of electric vehicles within existing parking structures, including autonomous charging robots.
Bonsai Robotics raised $15M in Series A funding led by Bison Ventures, with participation from Cibus Capital and existing investors. The Silicon Valley company develops computer vision-based systems that integrate with OEM equipment so to enable autonomous operation in harsh farming environments.
Capra Robotics raised €11.3M in funding led by Supernova Invest and Promus Ventures. The Aarhus, Denmark-based company is building a carrying robot with indoor and outdoor applications including inspection, logistics, and maintenance across a variety of industries.
Aisprid raised €10M in funding led by Innovacom with participation from Bpifrance’s French Tech Seed Fund, among others. The French company develops robots that can autonomously remove leaves from greenhouse-grown tomato plants.
Fermata raised a $10M Series A round led by Raw Ventures. The Tel Aviv company develops an AI-driven “centralized digital brain for the horticulture industry,” which allows for autonomous pest management in crops.
RoboForce raised $10M in early-stage funding from Myron Scholes, Gary Rieschel, and Carnegie Mellon University. The Silicon Valley company is developing humanoid robots for use in challenging environments like manufacturing, mining, and outer space.
Avisomo raised €5M in funding from Innovation Norway and existing investors. The Oslo company develops vertical farming robotics technology, pledging to create full automation with no human interaction required with plants from seed to packaged product.
The Big Exits
Symbotic completed its acquisition of Walmart’s Advanced Systems and Robotics business. Under the terms of the deal, Symbotic will develop, build, and deploy a robotics platform to offer accelerated online pickup and delivery options at Walmart stores.
LG Electronics acquired a majority stake in Bear Robotics, a Silicon Valley company building robots that assist staff in the hospitality industry with table service.
