Welcome back to Robotics Roundup, a monthly retrospective on the robotics industry’s most important VC deals. February saw two big investments in autonomous surface vessels, plus another big round for a humanoids company.
The Deals
Saronic Technologies raised $600M in Series C funding led by Elad Gil, with participation from new investor General Catalyst as well as a16z, Caffeinated Capital, and 8VC. The Austin-based company builds autonomous vessels for the US Navy and allies.
Apptronik raised a $350M Series A led by B Capital and Capital Factory, with participation from Google. The Austin company builds humanoid robots with plans to deploy in logistics, manufacturing, eldercare, and healthcare.
Hidden Level raised $65M in Series C funding led by DFJ Growth with participation from Booz Allen Ventures, Revolution Growth, Costanoa Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Veteran Ventures, Founders Circle Capital, and others. The Syracuse, New York-based company is building radar sensing technology to detect and locate drones.
Lumotive raised a $45M Series B included new investors Swisscom Ventures, East Bridge, EDOM, Grazia, Hokuyo Inc., and TSVC. The Redmond, Washington company manufactures semiconductor chips for 3D sensors.
Nomagic raised $44M in funding led by the venture capital arm of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with support from Khosla Ventures and Almaz Capital. The Warsaw company builds robotic picking, packing, and sorting robots for customers in the fashion, pharmaceuticals, and grocery industries.
Seasats raised $10M in a strategic funding round led by Shield Capital, with participation from Aero X Ventures, Techstars, and others. The San Diego company builds autonomous surface vessels for subsea mapping, oil spill monitoring, maritime domain awareness, and border protection.
FrodoBots AI raised $6M in a Seed round led by Protocol VC. The company crowdsources robotics data for embodied AI research through gaming, and incentivizes participation with cryptocurrency.
Nexera Robotics raised $4.5M in funding from BDC’s Industrial Innovation Venture Fund, among others. The Vancouver company builds robotic grasping solutions to handle diverse items in dynamic environments.
Uvionix raised $3.5M in Seed funding led by LAUNCHub Ventures and PortfoLion. The Los Angeles company creates autonomous flying drones for inventory management in warehouses.
Vantage Robotics raised an undisclosed amount from ideaForge. The Silicon Valley company builds nano and micro UAVs and associated components for government and commercial customers.
